cPanel Hosting

What is cPanel?

cPanel is the brand name of the most popular website and server Control Panel. cPanel is a Graphical User Interface [GUI] type software that helps control and manage all aspects of the servers and websites, including management of:

  • Domains,
  • Website text files and images,
  • Emails, and
  • Databases

cPanel is used only with the Linux operating system.  Below is a screenshot of a typical cPanel and its key sections, including:

  1. Navigation bar
  2. Sidebar

  4. Features
  5. Statistics

Almost in all cases, when you choose a web hosting plan, whether it is for Shared Web Hosting, VPS, Dedicated Web Hosting, or Cloud web hosting providers include a cPanel as part of the service.  In some cases, hosting providers make cPanel an add-on paid option and charge extra.  In those cases the cost of licensing a cPanel for your web hosting plan varies quite a bit from $3 to $5 per month [for a single-website cPanel license] to $100+ per month for cPanel licenses allowing to manage hundreds of web sites and/or servers.  As you can see in the picture below cPanel’s off-the-shelf retail prices range from $15 per month [for 1 account] to $48.50 per month [for up to 100 accounts].
